Well with Retro being the new thing I thought it was time to get my Amiga 1200 singing and dancing again and also document all the things I’ve done to make it work. |

Following the upload to archive.org of the Back2Roots.org backup that I managed to create a few days after it went finally down there were left files not really related to back2roots because these were other mirrors contained in the back2roots FTP server. |

Markround spent a few days researching and implementing a backup strategy that’s ideal for his needs and hopefully there will be something of use to other Amiga owners too. |

This is old version of Basilisk II, I know there are newer more update versions around on GITHUB. This version focusses on AmigaOS4.1, so is designed around AmigaOS4.1 native graphic feature. |

Amiga has released OS 3.5 and added official support for hard-drives larger than 4 Gigabyte. The previously released New Style Device (NSD), as discussed below, is now the official supported standard. It is important to realize that the added NSD support does NOT mean that software that uses a custom file system, such as Movie Shop, will now work with larger hard-drives. If this software didn't work without NSD, it still won't work with it. Also, hard drive applications such as DiskSalv, Ami-Back Tools, etc. will still not work properly, unless they are updated to support NSD. |

I wrote a set of programs for use with the Catweasel. My programs run on Linux, Windows 95, or MS-DOS and work with the Catweasel MK1, MK3, and MK4. They don't run on the Amiga -- sorry. Note: My Catweasel programs also do not run on Windows NT, 2000, XP, or 2003. I'm not sure if they run on Windows 98 or ME. The problem is that they talk directly to the hardware; they do not go through a device driver loaded into the operating system. |

The A600 and A1200 are very different from the Amiga 500. The A500 had a keyboard controller board on the back of the keyboard, and a serial interface to the mainboard. The Amiga 500 USB keyboard controller I built for that was a lot simpler in hardware terms, but a bit more effort to implement the serial protocol in the microcontroller. |
